Ex-Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie has slammed former teammate Per Mertesacker for his criticism of Arsene Wenger.
Both Robin Van Persie and Per Mertesacker played under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal for one season (during the 2011/12 campaign) before the former left the club to join Premier League rivals Manchester United in a deal said to be around £24m.
Former Dutch international striker Van Persie went on to win the Premier League title in his first season at Manchester United scoring 26 goals in the process.
On what Per Mertesacker said about Arsene Wenger, Robin Van Persie via the Daily Mail came to the defence of the Frenchman as he narrated how he learnt a lot from him during his time in North London.
Per Mertesacker had earlier said that Arsene Wenger had too much faith in his players at Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger is a legend at Arsenal after achieving success in his 22 years in North London.
Former Monaco and Grampus Eight manager was named the Gunners boss in 1996 and the rest they say is history after coming into the Premier League as a relatively unknown quantity.
During his stay at Arsenal, he led the club to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup titles.

He was instrumental to the signing of young forward Gabriel Martinelli who has been in sensational form for the Gunners in his first season with 10 goals in all competitions.
