Former Premier League player Noel Whelan believes that West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice would be a perfect fit for three-time European champions Manchester United.
In a chat with Football Insider, Noel Whelan said that Manchester United would be the ideal club for England international Declan Rice and that he is an upgrade on the current midfield options at the Theatre of Dreams.
According to him, he won’t be surprised if Declan Rice commands around £90m which would be more than the £80m spent on Harry Maguire by Manchester United.
England international centre back Maguire joined Manchester United from fellow Premier League outfit Leicester City during the just concluded transfer window.
Declan Rice was also linked with a move to Old Trafford but it didn’t end in a transfer.
He has been a key player for the Hammers for the better part of the last two years.
The former Chelsea trainee is an upgrade on the likes of Nemanja Matic and Fred in the Manchester United midfield.
In addition, Manchester United are yet to sign a replacement for Ander Herrera after the Spanish international signed for French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) on a free transfer earlier this year.
Declan Rice could be a perfect replacement for Ander Herrera.
