According to Express, Manchester United boss, Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to sign four players in the recently concluded summer transfer window –  Sean Longstaff, Christian Eriksen, Jadon Sancho, and Paulo Dybala were the four players he Norwegian wanted to sign. Although the transfer market ended in the first week of August in England, Manchester United failed to sign any of the above-mentioned players.

Well, we can argue that signing all four players in the same summer transfer window is impossible, we will discuss in detail how they could have helped Manchester United challenge for the EPL title this season.

Sean Longstaff

Newcastle United’s midfielder Sean Longstaff could have been an ideal replacement for Paul Pogba. Solskjaer is known for giving opportunities to young British players, having signed Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer.

Longstaff, like Mason Mount, is regarded as one of the highly talented British midfielders. The Newcastle player showed a lot of technical display during the second half of last season. We believe he could have provided Solskjaer with an added advantage in the midfield role.

With Nemanja Matic struggling in the past 12 months in the holding midfield position, Solskjaer has relied on the services of Scott McTominay alongside Pogba. We believed Scot could have developed a very good partnership with Sean Longstaff.

Jadon Sancho

In recent times, Juan Mata has failed to perform and Alexis Sanchez move to Inter Milan mean Manchester United are in dire need of a player like Jadon Sancho, Manchester United desperately need a technically sound winger. Having made a massive impact at Borussia Dortmund last season, Jadon Sancho would have been the perfect signing to fill Alexis Sanchez void.

The idea of playing Jadon Sancho with Marcus Rashford would have been a very exciting partnership and we strongly believe Manchester United should reignite their pursuit of Sancho next summer.

Christian Eriksen

Eriksen was the easiest target for Manchester United this summer. The 27-year-old player was keen to leave Tottenham Hotspur but a move away did not pull through.

From our observation, Christian Eriksen would fit well in Solskjaer’s plan, his presence in the attack could have provided the Red Devils with the spark of creativity Pogba lacks at the moment and that could have been useful to both Rashford and Anthony Martial pacy movement in the final third.

Paulo Dybala

Recall that Dybala was linked with a transfer to Manchester United earlier this summer. Juventus were keen on offloading the 25-year-old player in other to cut down their bill, but Manchester United’s lack of participation in the Champions League in addition to the player’s huge salary demands might have been the reason behind the failed deal.

Like Eriksen, Dybala’s versatility and quality in the final third would have made the difference in the Red Devils team. With his level of experience playing football, he could have partnered well with the likes of Rashford, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba.
