Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona have concluded plans to offer star player Lionel Messi a lifetime contract according to the latest reports emanating from the media in Spain.
Lionel Messi has been at Barcelona since his teen years and the Spanish champions are keen to extend that relationship beyond his playing years.
According to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona want to offer him a lifetime contract.
This is coming on the back of the revelation from Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu some days ago.
The Barcelona supremo said that Messi has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave the club at anytime.
Barcelona are confident that Lionel Messi is loyal to the club until the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar at least.
Messi would be hoping to represent Argentina at that tournament as he bids to win it for the first time.
He came close to winning the tournament at the 2014 FIFA World Cup edition in Brazil.
Messi and Argentina were beaten 1-0 by eventual champions Germany at the end of extra time.
Mario Gotze scored the winning goal for the four-time world champions.
Messi has scored 603 goals and also provided 242 assists in 687 appearances for Barcelona.
