Everton manager Marco Silva has revealed why the club signed Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi before the end of the just concluded Premier League transfer window.
The Premier League transfer window ended on Thursday and Alex Iwobi was one of the late transfers before the deadline.
Marco Silva spoke about Alex Iwobi during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Toffees’ Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.
Everton will start their season at the home of Crystal Palace.
In his words, Marco Silva said his team needed another attacking option and that Alex Iwobi fits the bill.
The Portuguese tactician revealed that Everton needed to add to their attacking options and Alex Iwobi was the right man for the job.
The Toffees had the likes of Bernard, Richarlison and Theo Walcott as the attacking options at Everton before the arrival of Alex Iwobi.
The Super Eagles player joined the Merseyside giants from Arsenal in a £40m deal on Thursday, thus making him the most expensive sale in the history of the North London club.
In addition, Alex Iwobi is also the most expensive player in the history of Nigeria as a result of the move to Everton.
The 23-year-old played 52 games for Arsenal in all competitions last season.
