Chelsea defender David Luiz is expected to join fellow London outfit Arsenal before the transfer window ends later today according to Sky Sports.
The Brazilian international centre back was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in January 2018 and the latest transfer news involving the Gunners and the player has escalated quickly in a matter of days.
David Luiz was expected to be a free agent at Chelsea but the Blues moved quickly to tie him down to a two-year deal just before the end of last season.
The 32-year-old is expected to join Arsenal for a fee believed to be around £8m.

The UK Mirror has revealed the real reason behind his imminent transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal.
It was revealed that David Luiz is keen to leave Stamford Bridge after becoming the fourth choice centre back under new manager Frank Lampard.
He has not been involved with the Chelsea first-team like he would have liked since Frank Lampard became the Blues boss this summer.
David Luiz is behind the trio of Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen in the centre back pecking order at Chelsea at the moment.
He was a mainstay of the Chelsea team under Maurizio Sarri last season.
EPL: Arsenal to meet £70m target tomorrow
North London outfit Arsenal will be meeting their long term target Adama Traore but not on the discussion table as usual. They will be meeting on the pitch when the Gunners file out against his Wolverhampton Wanders side in the English Premier League match on Saturday, July 4, 2020.
The Gunners will only hope to see a massive win to stand the chance of playing in the Europa League next season but more to it is that they will be served the opportunity to access their target, in what will look like a trial for the player.
Daily Mirror had reported that the Gunners were keen on the winger in April but a bid has not been tabled for the player. The winger already has a price tag of £70 million for any suitor.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed the threat the player will pose to his team, stressing that he has got incredible potential especially when he gets the ball on time which makes stopping him difficult.
In case the Gunners become convince about Traore’s quality, the challenge in securing his signature will be his price tag because the Gunners will not be able to meet with such a demand unless a negotiation is done.
However, Arsenal still have Nicolas Pepe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Alexandre Lacazette to boast of in their attack which makes Traore an option and not a necessity.
Arsenal make final decision on Thomas Partey
Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has been mostly mentioned in Arsenal’s transfer rumours ahead of the summer window with suggestions that he is highly needed.
It is also claimed that the Ghanian player is keen to part ways with the La Liga outfit, favouring a move to the English Premier League with Arsenal as his preferred destination.
Arsenal have got Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torriera but none of them have been able to keep the defence secured as needed and Partey has already proven that he can handle the job for Mikel Arteta.

However, the Gunners seems not interested in dragging a possible deal for the player and have decided to enter negotiation for a fee.
A £45million price tag has been slammed as his release clause which the Gunners might not be able to pay, especially after announcing a £27.1 million loss last year.
With the North London outfit now ready to step up their chase of the star player, there is a need to open negotiations with Atletico Madrid to have the fee reduced.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will seek to focus on their bid to secure a spot for Europa League qualification if they cannot make the Champions League and that will require concentration and hard work.
Angry Arsenal recruit, Saliba could return to France
From every indication, Arsenal’s new recruit William Saliba would be returning to France to play in the French Cup Final with Saint Etienne against Paris Saint Germain.
The Gunners snapped up the player in a £27 million deal last year and allowed him to stay back on a loan deal which expired on June 30.
As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the French league was not concluded but the French Cup final has now been scheduled for July 24.

The French club have approached Arsenal for the player to return for the final game and it was initially agreed but conditions for William Saliba to return were not reached between both clubs, causing fracas.
The latest report now claims that William Saliba is really upset with the decision by Arsenal to turn him down and has already approached the club’s managing director Vinai Venkatesham, a development that could force a rethink and a new negotiation.
Should everything go fine, Willaim Saliba could still return to France for the final game before starting his Arsenal career ahead of the coming season.
The North London are very keen on the welfare of the defender, knowing his injury records and they are keen on ensuring he gets fit to start the season with the team.
Barcelona star to snub Arsenal for Man United
There are indications that English Premier League outfit Arsenal will miss out on their target and Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann after reports claim he prefers a move to Man United.
The Gunners had indicated an interest in the France international and are ready to use a swap deal with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to tempt Barcelona who are also reportedly seeking the signature of the Gabon international.
While Arsenal are yet to tie down Aubameyang with a new deal, Barcelona are reported to be interested in his signature as they have not gotten the best from Antoine Griezmann since he joined Nou Camp from Atletico Madrid.

The latest report now claims that the France international was involved in a dressing room row and has fallen out of favour with the Catalan boss. It is claimed that the Premier League is his preferred destination and he favours a move to Man United.
According to the reports on The Express, the Griezmann family is unhappy with the situation of the former Atletico Madrid striker in Barcelona and are in full support of a move away from the club.
This, therefore, means that Arsenal’s chance of landing the star striker is now dim because of the uncertainty of his future at Barcelona.
Surprisingly, Arteta confirms Arsenal talks with Madrid, guess the player
It’s surprising to learn that English Premier League outfit Arsenal are in talks with Real Madrid over the possibility of keeping Dani Ceballos on a permanent basis.
This is after manager Mikel Arteta made this known after Arsenal’s 4-0 thrashing of Norwich on Wednesday evening.
It has become a thing of surprise since Arsenal chief, Edu already hinted the player would return after making claims that he hopes to see Ceballos complete his loan deal while announcing a contract extension for other players.
Arteta has now confirmed his love for the player, stressing that Dani Ceballos understands what is needed and works hard.

According to Arteta, Ceballos was struggling with injury when he first took over at the Emirates Stadium without knowing his true quality.
The Spaniard has strung a series of impressive performances together with the manager stressing that he really wants to help the team by his efforts to always win the ball and his interceptions.
There is no doubt that the Spanish playmaker will add flare to the Arsenal team and will add that creativity anytime Mesut Ozil is unavailable. His runs and ability to drive the ball into the opponents half is special.
Dani Ceballos will also be glad to remain as long as he can be guaranteed playing time.
Arteta not bothered about Aubameyang’s contract extension, see why
It has now become obvious, the reason why manager Mikel Arteta has not shown any fear with the delay in contract extension of Gabon sensation Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Dust is already been raised over issues of his contract. With some months left to the end of his current contract, the Gabon international is yet to seal a new deal and this is coming amidst interest from a number of clubs across Europe.
Knowing his quality and goal-scoring ability, it was expected that Arteta will be desperate to see his captain seal a new deal but his body language has not shown that.
The reason is now made clear after he confirmed that he is positive that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will remain at the club for many years.

When BT Sports asked Arteta about the progress so far on Aubameyang and contract talks, he replied by saying “I don’t know”
He therefore confidently assured that there is no need for worries because he is confident that the former Dortmund player will pen a new deal.
Meanwhile, Aubameyang has also confirmed that he hopes to sit with the club anytime soon but noted that he is focused on finishing the season in a better position.
Aubameyang has been outstanding for Arsenal and has set a club record of 50 goals in 75 games after his double against Norwich in the 4-0 win at the Emirates Stadium.
Ivan Gazidis planning to hurt Arsenal?
There has been unease among Arsenal fans over claims that young sensation Folarin Balogun could part ways with the club.
Folarin Balogun is one of the hottest prospects in Arsenal, tipped to have a great future, reasons why losing him will be a big blow.
So far, he has scored 38 goals in just 41 outings for the U18 side and tipped to make it to Mikel Arteta’s squad in coming years.
Efforts to have the 18-year-old sign a new deal with the club have failed, the reason why the club may be forced to cash in on him.

However, it is reported that AC Milan and Southampton are the two clubs tempting the young lad with interests with claims that he favours a move to Italy.
The man behind AC Milan’s recruitment is the former Arsenal Chief, Ivan Gazidis who masterminds the interest in the player who is regarded as Arsenal future.
This means Ivan Gazidis will be hurting his former employers in an attempt to make a good future for his new employers.
Meanwhile, Arsenal rejected a £5m bid from Brentford for Folarin Balogun in the past few months.
Ivan Gazidis is well known to Arsenal after playing a vital role at the club for many years. He will be remembered for getting rid of former manager Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal to lose or gain? agent succeeds In terminating Client’s contract
Arsenal have been able to agree on a loan extension with Italian Serie A outfit, AS Roma for their player, Henrikh Mkhitaryan until next season.
The midfielder did not enjoy his stay at the Emirates Stadium after the swap deal from Man United, forcing him out of the club for a loan deal.
Life seems to be good for the former Red Devils player in Italy after scoring six
goals in 15 games. No wonder, he claims to be happy when the loan extension deal was announced.
More to this news is that Super agent Mino Raiola has reportedly convinced Arsenal to terminate Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s contract and that would be confirmed to the public anytime soon.

Efforts to have Roma pay a fee for Henrikh Mkhitaryan has failed and that means his contract with Arsenal would be allowed to run out.
While Arsenal will not benefit any amount for Mkhitaryan, it is reported that Raiola played a big role in convincing the Gunners, hence he will benefit from a transfer fee that should have been paid to the club.
All might not be lost of Arsenal as they will also be relieved of the weekly wage paid to Mkhitaryan which would be used to pay other new recruits.
This, therefore, means that Mkhitaryan will sign a permanent deal with the Italian outfit as soon as he is cleared with the North London club.
The Gunners are expected to find a better replacement for Mkhitaryan in this summer transfer window to add depth to the team if they must bounce back.
