Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes has issued a statement of apology to fans after the Portuguese international and his teammates let them down.

Bruno Fernandes and his Sporting Lisbon teammates suffered a 5 – 0 defeat at the hands of rivals Benfica in the Portuguese Super Cup on Sunday night.

Bruno Fernandes could have played his last game for Sporting Lisbon as he’s attracting serious interest from Premier League sides like Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

He penned his apology letter via his official Instagram page.

Pizzi was the main man for Benfica after he scored two goals in addition to further strikes from Rafa Silva, Alejandro Grimaldo and Chiquinho.

Sporting Lisbon were thought to have reached an agreement with Manchester United for Bruno Fernandes for £56m according to widespread reports at the end of last month but that turned out to be untrue.

Spurs are also in the frame to sign the 24-year-old midfielder having sent representatives to Lisbon in a bid to sign him.

Bruno Fernandes is attracting a lot of interests after a very good campaign for Sporting Lisbon last season.

He was one of the highest goalscorers in the top leagues in Europe after scoring 32 goals in all competitions.
