Ryad Mahrez

At this point, we all agree Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane remains part of the top African footballers we have. Both players skyrocket their performance at the club and country level. However, Mahrez, on the other hand, won the AFCON cup with Algeria over Sadio Mane Senegal side.

Mahrez hasn’t gotten much playing time at City compared to how he had appearance at his former club Leicester City.

On the other hand, Sadio Mane remains a crucial part of Liverpool first team after having a fantastic performance last season with the reds.

Even at that, Mahrez remains a top player right from the days of Leicester City winning the English Premier League in year 2015/2016.

Manchester City open a bid to sign the Algerian man shortly after the season which took him to the Etihad from Leicester City, this sees him become a rotating player for the current Manchester City squad which calls for more game time from the 28 years old Algerian man.

Mahrez is a kind of attacking player that cut-out defenders from the left and get the ball in the net, he can also play on the right to square the ball across the face of goal. He is a very good free-kick taker but he doesn’t have much room at his present club.

Mahrez was part of the Unstoppable team for Leicester city to clinch their shocking Premier League trophy 2015/2016, the Algerian scored 17 goals and 10 assists in just 37 appearances also claiming the PFA Player of the year award which led to his big move to the Etihad.

All things considered, Mahrez picked up the new challenge well enough alongside Sterling before falling out of favor under coach Pep Guardiola which cut short is minute on the field.

Guardiola continues to gain more interest in the likes of Lorey Sane, Raheem Sterling, Bernando Silva as it seems they understood the system of play more.

However, Mahrez was able to score 12 goals and provide 12 assists in all competition which is below expectation but wasn’t given the chance to do more.

Will his ongoing fine form earn him a first team shirt under boss Pep Guardiola? We wait till EPL resume.
