English Championship club Derby County are reportedly plotting a move for Chelsea loanee Marco van Ginkel this summer.

According to the publication from media portal Hitc, Marco van Ginkel could reunite with his former manager Philip Cocu at Derby County.

Marco van Ginkel worked with Philip Cocu at Dutch Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven.

Philip Cocu has been appointed the new Derby County manager following the exit of Frank Lampard.

The ex-Dutch international star would be hoping to lead Derby County back into the Premier League in his first season as a manager in England.

Marco van Ginkel scored 29 goals in 56 appearances for PSV Eindhoven during his three-year spell at the Dutch Eredivisie giants.

The Chelsea loanee spent the last three seasons on loan at PSV Eindhoven though it must be pointed out that the Dutch midfielder battled with several injuries during his time at the club.

The Dutchman is facing a bleak future at Chelsea with several midfielders in front of him including Mateo Kovacic.

Croatian international Kovacic spent the last campaign on loan at Chelsea and his performances were convincing enough for the Blues to splash €50m to make his loan move permanent.

Other midfielders like Jorginho, Ross Barkley, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are all ahead of Marco van Ginkel in the pecking order.
