Manchester United midfielder Juan Manuel Mata reportedly took a significant pay cut to sign a new contract at the Theatre of Dreams.
According to the publication from The Sun, Spanish international Mata took a £45,000 pay cut to extend his contract at Manchester United beyond this summer.
Juan Manuel Mata had few days left on his previous Manchester United contract before he signed a contract extension last week.
The former Valencia and Chelsea player has signed a new two-year deal at Old Trafford with the option of a third year.
Mata signed for Manchester United in January 2014 while David Moyes was still the Red Devils boss.

The former Premier League champions paid £37.1m to sign the 31-year-old from Chelsea at the start of 2014.
He was linked with a lot of clubs before the Spaniard finally settled for a new deal at Manchester United.
Mata was previously on a salary worth £180,000 on a weekly basis but that has changed to £135,000 with the new contract announced earlier this month.
He was a transfer for clubs like Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona, Italian Serie A giants Juventus, Spanish club Valencia as well as Premier League giants Arsenal whose manager Unai Emery worked with Mata at Valencia before the player joined Chelsea eight years ago.
