Europa League finalists Arsenal will have to fend off the threat of Spanish clubs in the bid to sign Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan this summer.

According to trusted Spanish publication Marca, the Gunners want to sign the 24-year-old as they try to bolster their squad after a disappointing end to the just-concluded campaign.

Arsenal recorded just four points from the possible 15 points at the end of the Premier League season thereby missing on Champions League football for next season via the league route before losing 4-1 to London rivals Chelsea in the Europa League final.

A win over Chelsea in that final would have given them a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Arsenal have to deal with the exit of ling serving midfielder Aaron Ramsey who will link up with Italian champions Juventus this summer on a free transfer in the wake of the expiration of his Arsenal contract.

Joan Jordan had a good season for Eibar during the latest La Liga and he has been attracting the interest from fellow Spanish sides like Villarreal, Sevilla and Valencia.

The Gunners will need to beat the aforementioned Spanish La Liga teams to the signature of the player who has a release clause of €15m in his current Eibar contract which expires next summer.
