A number of interests have been lined up for the signature of Ajax star defender Matthijs de Ligt and English Premier League outfit Man United are a part of the teams but they have not been favourites despite insisting.

Matthijs de Ligt enjoyed a brilliant last season and that has caught the attention of a number of top European guns who are all keen to land him as soon as the summer transfer window is opened.

Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona, Liverpool are all in the chase of the 19-year-old who was a part of the team that eliminated Real Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League.

Firstly, Barcelona were believed to be the favourites to land Matthijs de Ligt but they have now learned that he might not be joining Camp Nou as the Dutch player has already made it clear that he is no longer interested in the move.

Secondly, Barcelona might not be able to pay as heavy as the asking price for the in-demand star owing to how much it has been raised.

However, it would be left for the Red Devils to meet with the £14 million a year for the star player to be able to convince him on the move.
