North London giants Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti at his club according to the publication from the stables of the Daily Mirror.
The Gunners are expected to sign at least a new center-back this summer and Frenchman Umtiti is said to be among the transfer targets for that role.
It was revealed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on his situation at Barcelona and that the Gunners would swoop for him if the Catalan giants sign highly rated Ajax Amsterdam defender Matthijs De Ligt.
Barcelona are one of the favourites to sign the Ajax skipper this summer.
Samuel Umtiti had a phenomenal summer in 2018 after he played a key role for France as they won the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia only for him to sustain a serious knee injury at the start of this season.
The injury restricted him to 19 appearances in all competitions including 14 appearances in the league.
Umtiti lost his spot in the Barcelona starting XI to Christian Lenglet as a result of the aforementioned injury.
Recent reports claimed that Juventus and Arsenal will have to pay €80m to sign him as per the transfer fee slammed on the 25-year-old French defender.
Samuel Umtiti joined Barcelona from Lyon in a deal worth around €25m at the start of last season.
