Paris Saint Germain (PSG) manager Thomas Tuchel has shut down calls for him to make star forward Neymar the club skipper ahead of next season.

German tactician Tuchel responded to calls for Neymar to be the PSG skipper during his post-match press conference after the French Ligue 1 game with Angers which his team won 2-1.

According to him, Neymar is the technical leader in the PSG squad but the Brazilian international is not captain material.

Thomas Tuchel further said that he retains faith in the ability of present captains Thiago Silva and Marquinhos.

The former Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund manager was speaking after he led PSG to a first win in four away games with a 2-1 victory over hosts Angers.

Neymar was the star of the show after he scored one goal and also provided an assist for Angel Di Maria for the other goal during the game which ended with PSG playing with ten men as a result of the red card to Marquinhos.

Neymar has a long-term contract at PSG following his £200m move from Spanish champions Barcelona but his long-term future at the club is still in doubt.

He has been linked with a return to Barcelona as well as moves to clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid in the past.
