Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin has agreed to a three-year deal with Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan ahead of a free transfer move this summer.
According to ESPN, Uruguayan international Godin will join the Italians upon the expiration of his Atletico Madrid contract in few weeks time.
Diego Godin had earlier announced that he will be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer at the end of his contract after nine years at the Spanish La Liga outfit.
He joined Atletico Madrid from fellow Spanish La Liga club Villarreal and he has been a wonderful servant for the Rojiblancos since his arrival.
The Atletico Madrid skipper was linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United in the last two summers with reports claiming that the Red Devils paid his release clause but the player decided to stay with the Spaniards in the summer of 2017.
Manchester United have been trying to sign a new centre back in the last few transfer windows and Diego Godin was previously one of their transfer targets.
Diego Godin is not going to leave Atletico Madrid for Manchester United with the 33-year-old closing in on a move to Italian giants Inter Milan.
The Uruguayan international skipper will reportedly earn $6.5m on a yearly basis at Inter Milan over the next three years.
