Premier League giants Manchester United are expected to step up their interest in highly rated Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella this weekend.
This is according to the publication from Italian media portal Gazzetta dello Sport.
It was revealed that the Red Devils will send scouts to watch the player in action for Cagliari in their Italian Serie A clash with Napoli.
Italian international Barella has been the subject of transfer speculation involving the major clubs on the European football scene.
The 22-year-old has been a key performer for Cagliari since he broke into the starting XI at the club some few seasons ago.
The Red Devils are expected to improve their squad with new quality players when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to spearhead a major rebuilding job at Old Trafford and Nicolo Barella could be a big part of that rebuilding job.
Apart from Nicolo Barella, Manchester United scouts can also use that opportunity to have another check on Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly who has previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Senegalese international star Koulibaly is widely known as one of the best centre backs on the world football scene alongside the likes of Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) and Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool).
