Ajax Amsterdam skipper Matthijs De Ligt is one of the most sought-after players on the European football scene and it’s not surprising that several clubs want to sign him this summer.
European sides like Barcelona, Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Juventus have all registered their interest in the highly rated Dutch international centre back.
Spanish champions Barcelona are said to be the front-runners for Matthijs De Ligt but the five-time European champions might have to contend with Premier League club Manchester United.
According to the publication from popular media channel ESPN, the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, wants De Ligt to join Manchester United this summer.
Matthijs De Ligt will most likely leave Ajax Amsterdam this summer but his agent is holding out for a move to Old Trafford for him.
The player is said to favour a transfer to Barcelona where he will link up with Ajax Amsterdam and international teammate Frenkie De Jong next summer.
De Jong has already wrapped up a transfer to Barcelona after the Catalan giants paid an initial fee of €65m, which will rise to €75m depending on add-ons.
His transfer was completed in January but the midfielder won’t join his new club until the end of the current season.
