Major League Soccer (MLS) club D.C. United are interested in a summer move for Stoke City defender Ashley Williams.
This is according to the publication from popular English news outlet The Sun which claimed that the Welsh international centre back could swap English football for the MLS.
Ashley Williams is on loan at English Championship club Stoke City from Premier League club Everton at the moment.
The 34-year-old was not able to propel Stoke City to the playoffs in the English Championship as the battle to secure promotion to the Premier League hots up.
Apart from D.C. United, Ashley Williams has also been linked with fellow MLS club New York City.
Ashley Williams has previously been linked with a move to North London giants Arsenal when legendary manager Arsene Wenger was in charge of the team.
The Welsh defender came close to joining the Gunners during the Arsene Wenger managerial era while he was at Swansea City who suffered relegation from the top flight of English football at the end of last season.
Ashley Williams could reunite with former Everton teammate Wayne Rooney at D.C. United.
Rooney has been a talisman for D.C. United since joining the club from Everton last season.
The former England international skipper has been in good form for his new club since his transfer in 2018.
