Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor has ripped into the Gunners squad he played with at the club in a recent interview.
The Togolese international told the Daily Mail that the Arsenal team lacked winning mentality during his time at the club.
Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor plays his club football for Turkish top flight side Istanbul Basaksehir at the moment.
The 35-year-old scored 46 goals in 104 appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League between January 2006 and May 2009.
He joined Arsenal from French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco at the start of 2006 before departing in controversial circumstances in the summer of 2009.
Adebayor left Arsenal for fellow Premier League clubs Manchester City that summer.
According to him, the then Arsenal squad has talented players like Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy, and Robin Van Persie but they lacked the winning mentality required to win trophies.
The Gunners were found wanting in that area while the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea won several trophies during that era.
The Togolese striker also blamed former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for the situation back then as he said that the Frenchman preferred style over results.
The current Arsenal squad has been leveled with the same accusation which is the lack of a winning mentality but they can still win the Europa League and also finish in the top three or four places on the Premier League table.
