Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan are interested in a summer transfer for Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian.

This is according to the report from popular Italian media portal Gazzetta dello Sport which claimed that Matteo Darmian is surplus to requirements with the Red Devils.

Matteo Darmian has struggled for game time this season under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

His situation became worse when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the Manchester United manager in December.

Darmian has been attracting the interest of many Italian teams including AC Milan and Inter Milan.

It was revealed that Inter Milan want to pay as much as £9m for his transfer as he has just one year left on his current Manchester United contract.

The Italian international player joined Manchester United in 2015 after the Red Devils reached an agreement for his transfer with Italian Serie A club Torino.

Matteo Damian is a versatile fullback that can play either as a left-back or as a right-back.

Darmian is expected to be one of several players that will leave Manchester United this summer as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer starts to rebuild his squad at Old Trafford.

Apart from Darmian, players like Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly and many more are expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.
