Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has slammed Manchester United defender Chris Smalling for the mark he left on star player Lionel Messi after their Champions League game on Wednesday night.
Messi was left with a bloodied nose and face after a collision with England international Smalling in the first half of the encounter between Manchester United and Barcelona.
The Barcelona skipper needed to be examined by doctors as a result of the collision during the Champions League quarterfinal first leg clash.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the Huesca game in the Spanish La Liga, Valverde called out Chris Smalling as he said that the former Fulham centre back hit Messi like a train.
Lionel Messi has been left out of the 18-man squad for the away game at Huesca as Barcelona close in on a second successive league title.
The Catalans have an 11-point lead over nearest challengers Atletico Madrid at the Spanish La Liga summit.
Ernesto Valverde has elected to rest several players for the Huesca game with the focus on the return leg with Manchester United.
Valverde and Barcelona have a 1-0 lead from the leg courtesy an own goal from Luke Shaw.
Apart from Messi, Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez will all miss the Huesca game.
