Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has praised the quality possessed by Manchester United ahead of their Champions League clash.

Manchester United and Barcelona meet in the Champions League quarterfinals with a place in the last four of the competition up for grabs.

The Red Devils host Barcelona in the first leg of their last eight clash on Wednesday night before the second leg next week.

Ahead of their first leg meeting at Old Trafford this week, Ernesto Valverde told Sky Sports that Manchester United can cause Barcelona a lot of problems despite the fact that the Catalan giants are heavy favourites.

Barcelona are expected to go through to the semifinals but Manchester United have shown that they are no pushovers in Europe’s premier competition this term.

Just like what’s obtainable with Barcelona, Manchester United were overwhelming underdogs against French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the last round.

Despite being overwhelming favourites, PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester United via the away goals rule.

The French champions beat Manchester United 2-0 away from home before succumbing to a 3-1 defeat at home thus paving the way for the Red Devils to seal a last eight spot.

On their part, Barcelona sealed a quarterfinal spot with a 5-1 aggregate win over another French club Lyon.
