Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has revealed that former club striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the right man for the job days after the Norwegian tactician was confirmed as the club’s permanent manager.
In his recent interview monitored by popular media portal Goal, Chris Smalling told reporters that the players wanted Solskjaer to get the job permanently.
Solskjaer was initially named the interim manager in December after former manager Jose Mourinho was sacked after a disastrous start to the season.
His performance as the interim Manchester United manager convinced many that the former Red Devils striker was the right man for the job.
Under his interim management, Solskjaer led the club to 14 wins, two draws and just three losses from the 19 games played under him.
Manchester United are back in contention for the Premier League top-four with Solskjaer in charge in addition to qualifying for the Champions League quarterfinals where they will face Spanish champions Barcelona for a place in the last four of the competition.
Solskjaer rightfully received a lot of credit for the way he led the Red Devils into the quarterfinals at the expense of French giants PSG having lost 2-0 at home to their opponents.
Manchester United won their last 16 tie against PSG on away goals via a 3-1 win in the second leg.
