Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has aimed a slight dig at North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur after the home win over Newcastle United.
After the game, Ozil told reporters that the players are delighted to be ahead of Tottenham Hotspur on the Premier League table.
Arsenal trailed Spurs by ten points as at February but the recent poor run from their neighbours has seen the Gunners move two points clear.
The 2-0 win over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night ensured that Arsenal are now two points clear of Tottenham Hotspur.
Mesut Ozil produced a man-of-the-match performance to help the Gunners secure the much needed win over the Magpies.
The retired German international didn’t score or assist but he was influential in the way he helped Arsenal control the game.
The Gunners’ skipper for the day Aaron Ramsey gave Arsenal the lead on the half-hour mark with a fine finish having already had a goal disallowed earlier in the half.
Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then came off the bench to set up buddy Alexandre Lacazette for the second and clinching goal in the final ten minutes of the game.
The win puts Arsenal in a fantastic position in the top-four race ahead of the last seven games of the season.
