AS Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim has revealed that Jose Mourinho would boost the profile of French Ligue 1 if he decides to manage one of the clubs in the league.

Portuguese manager Jardim spoke about his compatriot in his pre-match thoughts ahead of his side’s home game against Caen in the top flight of French football.

Jardim further revealed that the appointment of Mourinho will increase the Portuguese contingent of managers in the league.

Former Manchester United manager Mourinho has been strongly linked with big French Ligue 1 clubs like Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Lyon.

Lyon manager Bruno Genesio was quite complimentary to Mourinho as he revealed that it would be an honour for the former Chelsea manager to succeed him at the club.

His contract expires at the end of this season.

Jose Mourinho recently revealed that he has turned down several offers to return to management before hinting that he could return to the dugout this summer.

His last managerial job was at Manchester United where he was sacked in December.

Mourinho was fired at Manchester United after a run of poor results that left the Red Devils with a lot to do in the Premier League title race.

He was replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has since been named the permanent manager.
