Arsenal scouts were reportedly in attendance to watch Nicolo Barella in action during the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying match between Italy and Finland.
Nicolo Barella plays his club football for Italian Serie A club Cagliari at the moment.
According to the report from popular transfer news portal Metro, Arsenal are interested in a move for Nicolo Barella ahead of this summer’s transfer window and they sent scouts to watch him play for the Italian national team against Finland.
Nicolo Barella produced a fine display for Italy as they recorded their first win of the Euro 2020 qualifiers via a 2-0 win over Finland.
The watching Arsenal scouts would have been delighted with his performance in the Euro 2020 qualifier played on Saturday night.
Nicolo Barella gave Italy an early lead in the seventh minute before Juventus youngster Moise Kean added a second goal for the Italians in the 74th minute.
The win was enough to take Italy to joint top in Group J alongside 2004 champions Greece who also won 2-0 against Lichtenstein.
Arsenal are not the only club interested in the 22-year-old Barella.
The Italian Serie A duo of Napoli and Inter Milan are also interested in the young midfielder.
Recent reports claim that it would take at least £43m to prise him away from Cagliari.
