Merseyside outfit Liverpool legendary defender Sami Hyypia is of the opinion that Virgil Van Dijk should be hailed more than any Liverpool player because he is the most important man in the team.
Virgil Van Dijk only joined the Merseyside outfit in the January winter transfer window of 2018 and has become a household name in the Reds team with his outstanding performance for manager Jurgen Klopp.
A lot has been said about his importance in the team and how much he deserves to be given the PFA player of the year.
However, Senegal international Sadio Mane has also been lifting the Reds team with his goal and fine form. So far, he has scored 11 goals in his last 11 games for the Merseyside outfit to bring in the wins.
But Sami Hyypia is of the opinion that all of the goals by Sadio Mane cannot be as important as what Virgil Van Dijk has been offering the team with his defensive abilities.
He stressed that aside from giving a quality performance, Virgil Van Dijk makes other players play better because of his commanding playing and leadership quality both on and off the pitch.
