Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has withdrawn from the Serbia squad ahead of the upcoming games against Germany and European champions Portugal.
Serbia and Germany meet later this week in an international friendly before they face Portugal in the first match of their Euro 2020 qualifying series.
His withdrawal from the Serbia squad is said to be as a precaution having just returned from injury.
Nemanja Matic missed Premier League games against Liverpool, Southampton and Crystal Palace with a calf injury.
He also sat out the sensational victory over Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
Without Matic, Manchester United defeated PSG 3-1 away from home to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg at Old Trafford.
The result ensured that Manchester United advance to the Champions League quarterfinals with Messi and co waiting in the wings.
Matic would be hoping to play a crucial role when Manchester United face Barcelona in a two-legged quarterfinal clash.
The Serbian midfielder returned to action for the league meeting with Arsenal which the Red Devils lost 2-0 courtesy goals from Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (penalty).
He also played the next game, a 2-1 defeat at Wolves in their FA Cup quarterfinal clash.
Matic was subbed off with four minutes left on the clock and that has prompted concerns about his fitness.
