The Blues face off with the might of Everton as the Toffees welcomes Eden Hazard and Italian manager Maurizio Sarri at home. Both sides have had contrasting results in recent weeks but that may not necessarily play out here in this fixture.
Everton will have their aspirations going into this fixture likewise Chelsea as the battle ensues between both sides at Goodison Park.
However, with the hostility looming ahead of the Chelsea visit, we evaluate the three key reasons why Everton should be wary ahead of Chelsea’s trip away from home.
Chelsea’s Renewed Confidence
The Blues might have faltered at some points in the season but this match presents them with the chance to make amends. This looks possible as the visitors are in a good run of form at the moment.
Dynamo Kiev can testify about this as the Ukraine giants was easily walloped 0 – 5 in the Europa League in midweek. This got Chelsea winning 8 – 0 on aggregate as Sarri’s men kept their European dreams alive despite their Premier League inconsistencies.
This may be the euphoria Chelsea have longed for as they get set to face Marcos Silva’s side at the Merseyside.
Top Four Revival
The chance for the top four is a realistic one for the Blues. This is made even easier knowing the fact that archrivals Arsenal and Manchester United would not be in action in the Premier League this weekend.
This is a good (massive) one for Chelsea as Arsenal’s trip to face Wolves at the Molineux has been postponed due to the promoted side’s involvement in the FA Cup. The same goes for United who took on Wolves in the FA Cup tie.
This will be an added incentive for the London side as a win against Everton will get them well-placed for a top four finish So expect the Blues to go for it as they are gradually finding their rhythm in games at the moment.
Everton’s Poor Record
The home side will have their all (enough psychological work) to do as regards to team motivation ahead of the Chelsea visit.
This is due to their poor run of form against the big side (six) as they even lost at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers in recent weeks.
This puts the pressure on the host and their manager Marco Silva as the fans comes with their massive expectations as usual this weekend.
