Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne faces a race against time in his quest to be fit for the Europa League clash with Premier League giants Arsenal.
Arsenal and Napoli clash in the quarterfinals of the competition with a place in the last four spots up for grabs.
Italian international Insigne is a big doubt for the game after he suffered a strain in his right leg during the warm-up ahead of Napoli’s Europa League last 16 second leg clash against Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.
Napoli had won the first leg 3-0 in Italy before they lost the second leg against the Austrian champions 3-1 without the services of the aforementioned Insigne.
On the other hand, 10-man Arsenal were beaten 3-1 by Rennes in the first leg of their last 16 tie before the Gunners managed to turn the tie around with a 3-0 home win in the second leg and a 4-3 victory on aggregate against the French outfit.
Arsenal will host Napoli at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday, April 11 before the return leg in Italy on Thursday, April 18.
Insigne is one of three Napoli players that could miss the huge clash with the Gunners as he’s expected to miss the next three weeks.
Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Vlad Chiriches suffered a hamstring injury during the aforementioned game in Austria and he’s expected to be out at least three weeks.
Midfielder Amadou Diawara will most likely miss more than three weeks after he suffered a fracture in his right foot.
