North London giants Arsenal have been charged by the English FA (Football Association) following the pitch invasion of a fan during the Premier League clash with Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.
The said Arsenal fan, Gary Cooper, ran onto the Emirates Stadium pitch shortly after the Gunners scored their second goal against rivals Manchester United.
He appeared to tap Manchester United defender Chris Smalling before running towards the celebrating Arsenal players.
Gary Cooper was banned from Arsenal games after his show of shame.
Arsenal’s big win over Manchester United was somewhat overshadowed by the incident involving the aforementioned Gary Cooper.
The Gunners won 2-0 with goals from Granit Xhaka and Gabonese international star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang either side of the halftime interval.
British football witnessed various pitch invasion incidents from fans at the weekend.
Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish was attacked by a fan (Paul Mitchell) during the Derby clash with Birmingham City in the English Championship.
Justice was served for Paul Mitchell (Birmingham City fan) after his team lost 1-0 at home with Jack Grealish getting the winner.
He has since been sentenced to 14 weeks in prison as a result of his misdemeanour.
In addition, Paul Mitchell was also banned from attending matches for life.
