Former Manchester United and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed his desire for English pairings during the Champions League draw scheduled to take place on Friday afternoon.

Mourinho told Russian Programme RT that his preference is for the Premier League teams to face each other.

Four English teams are in the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time in ten years since the 2008/09 season.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United were the four English quarterfinalists then.

Liverpool and Manchester United have been joined in the quarterfinals by Premier League champions Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur for this season’s Champions League.

Liverpool sealed a last eight spot in the competition after beating Bayern Munich 3-1 away from home on Wednesday night to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory over the Bavarian giants in their last 16 tie.

Tottenham Hotspur also saw off a German club following their 4-0 aggregate win over their last 16 opponents.

Manchester City thrashed Schalke 04 7-0 in their second leg clash on Tuesday night to seal a 10-2 aggregate win as English clubs eliminated all the German sides left in the competition.

Manchester United are also in the Champions League quarterfinals after they saw off French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) via the away goals rule.
