Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has slammed defender Shkodran Mustafi after his mistake condemned the Gunners to a 1-1 draw in their North London Derby clash with Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
The two teams met for their second Premier League game of the season and German international Mustafi was the villain for the Gunners who came close to a big away win over Spurs at the Wembley Stadium.
Reacting to the mistake from Mustafi, Arsenal legend Petit told French news outlet RMC Sport that he was surprised to see the former Valencia defender in the starting XI before labeling him as the king of blunders.
Shkodran Mustafi has been the subject of criticisms from the Arsenal fans after he needlessly pushed Tottenham striker Harry Kane in the box to concede a second-half penalty.
The Gunners had earlier taken a first-half lead through Aaron Ramsey before Harry Kane converted the 74th-minute penalty conceded by Mustafi.
Arsenal substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had the opportunity to win the game for the Gunners from the spot in the dying moments of the game but his penalty was saved by Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Aubameyang was fouled was adjudged to have been fouled by Tottenham Hotspur defender Davidson Sanchez.
