North London giants Arsenal are reportedly considering whether or not to make Emiliano Martinez the replacement for Petr Cech who will retire from football at the end of this season.
According to popular media outlet Goal, the Gunners want Emiliano Martinez to step up from third choice to second choice behind Bernd Leno when Cech hangs his gloves this summer.
Retired Czech Republic international Petr Cech has already confirmed that this season will be his last as a professional footballer after a glittering career for the London duo of Chelsea and Arsenal.
Petr Cech was previously the number one goalkeeper at Arsenal before he was displaced by Bernd Leno towards the end of last year.
The Czech shot stopper joined Arsenal from Chelsea in 2015 and he has been the first choice until he suffered an injury against Watford in September.
Bernd Leno replaced him towards the end of that game and he has not been able to get the starting berth back since then.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of goalkeepers as a replacement for Cech but the Gunners could now promote Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez who’s currently on loan at English Championship club Reading until the end of the season.
