Why Arsenal Will Sign €50m Ligue 1 Star Revealed
Arsenal are in a fantastic position to snap up one of their long-term transfer targets when the transfer window reopens later this year.
This is according to the publication from French news platform Le 10 Sport which claimed that renowned administrator Monchi has already laid the groundwork for a €50m summer raid for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.
AS Roma sporting director Monchi is expected to reunite with Arsenal manager Unai Emery in North London for the same role if reports in the British media are anything to go by.
Arsenal are keen to appoint a sporting director and they have identified Spaniard Monchi as the right man for the job.
The Gunners will pay a compensation fee of €1m to AS Roma for Monchi who enjoyed a successful working relationship with Unai Emery when they were at Spanish La Liga club Sevilla.
A move for Ivorian international attacker Pepe would be a big transfer coup for the Gunners.
Pepe is one of the best attackers in the French top flight this season.
The 23-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided eight assists in 25 league games for Lille and his form has propelled the club to the Champions League spots on the table.
