The Portugal junior international recently signed a new contract at Benfica which took his release clause to €120m (£105m).
Manchester United are not the only club on the trail of Joao Felix with as much as six clubs also interested in him.
The Spanish trio of Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all in the running to sign the young attacker.
AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Premier League title contenders Liverpool have all been mentioned as a potential transfer destination for the player.
Recent reports had claimed that Merseyside giants Liverpool failed with a mega bid for the player in the past weeks.
Benfica were said to have turned down a £61m bid from Liverpool for their player with the club adamant that he will only leave for the release clause on his contract.
