A latest report claims that English Premier League outfit Chelsea would have secured the signature of Italian Serie A outfit Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella as they were keen on him but a deal failed to fall through.
According to the report, the West London outfit had submitted a bid of about £44 million to the club which was accepted by the club but the player refused to accept a move away from the Italian Serie A outfit.
The Blues were desperately in need of a midfielder after the departure of Spanish man Cesc Fabregas to French Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco.
However, a report claims that the reason why Nicolo Barella rejected the terms to join the Stamford Bridge side is that he wanted to remain in Italy as a result of family reasons.
Meanwhile, the West London outfit were left with no choice than to remain without a signature after snapping up Christian Pulisic from German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.
The essence of Nicolo Barella’s pursuit by Chelsea is to ensure that manager Maurizio Sarri gets a formidable squad to be able to compete for a Champions League spot ahead of next season.
