English Premier League outfit Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk has expressed his disappointment following their Wednesday night’s draw against Leicester City.
The draw came after title rivals Manchester City suffered a shock defeat to Newcastle and it was expected that the Reds take advantage of the defeat to increase the lead on top of the log.
The former Southampton central defender who expressed disappointment at the inability of his side to increase the gap said he expected that the club had taken advantage of the goal from Senegal international Sadio Mane to seal the win.
He noted that his side are a good team but were only unlucky to have ended the game in a stalemate despite having a number of opportunities in the game.
According to him, they were also affected by the pitch because it was full of ice which stopped them from breaking the Foxes despite having the ball at most times.
While admitting that his side need a little of luck to win the league, Virgil Van Dijk stated that his Reds team are focused only on their own performance and progression this season which according to him is the best approach.
Meanwhile, a number of games are still left to be played and that will determine who wins the league.
