English Premier League outfit Liverpool are reported to have lost out of the race to secure the signature of Brazilian right full-back Emerson before the end of this winter transfer window.

The Reds were earlier reported to have shown interest in Emerson with the hope that he could have a switch to the Anfield in this January but that will no longer happen if emerging reports are to be true as Spanish La Liga outfit Barcelona are reported to be in the position to secure his signature.

It is alleged that another Spanish La Liga outfit Real Betis are also in the race, having made an inquiry about the availability of the right full-back and already preparing a bid for him.

However, the report claims that Emerson will be heading to Real Betis with part of the fee to be paid by Barcelona so that they can have the first refusal to snap him up in the future.

Emerson is only 20 and the Spanish La Liga champions are of the opinion that he still has a lot to learn in terms of experience which is the reason why he is allowed to leave elsewhere before returning back to the Camp Nou when he is ready.
