Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has revealed that Gunners midfielder Lucas Torreira is not good enough despite earning rave reviews as a result of his impressive performances for the North Londoners.

Lucas Torreira joined Arsenal from Italian Serie A club Sampdoria at the start of the season in a deal worth £26m.

Fans and pundits have praised the Uruguayan international for his impact on the Arsenal team but Paul Merson is adamant that the player is not good enough.

Arsenal legend Paul Merson was on Sky Sports for his punditry work when he talked about Lucas Torreira.

According to him, Lucas Torreira won’t walk into the starting XI of the other teams in the Premier League top six.

Paul Merson went on to say that Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is a better player than the petite Uruguayan.

Doucoure has been a key player for Watford since he joined the club at the start of last season.

His performances in the last campaign earned him the player of the year award at Watford.

On his own part, Lucas Torreira started the first five games in this Premier League season on the bench before establishing himself in the Arsenal squad under the guidance of club manager Unai Emery.
