Man United Face Barcelona Threat For Top Serie A Defender
Three-time European champions Manchester United will do well to fend off the threat of Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona in their quest to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
The threat of Barcelona was revealed by French media portal 221 People via the Daily Express.
It was revealed that the Catalans have offered a whopping £107m for the Senegalese international centre back in the race to sign the in-demand player.
Kalidou Koulibaly has been one of the most consistent defenders in Italian football since he joined Napoli from Belgian champions Genk in 2014.
European heavyweights like Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona all want to sign him to boost their respective teams defensively.
Koulibaly was expected to follow Maurizio Sarri from Napoli to Chelsea last summer just like what Italian midfielder Jorginho but the Champions League campaigners were able to fight off the Blues’ interest.
Manchester United have been severely linked with the 27-year-old in recent weeks with reports claiming that the Red Devils had a £95m rejected for him last month.
The Red Devils have now had two bids rejected for Kalidou Koulibaly with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis determined to get as much money for him since the Italians are not desperate to sell their most prized asset.
