Former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires has stated that Matteo Guendouzi is an important asset for the Gunners.
The Gunners legend sang the praise of Arsenal midfielder Guendouzi to high heavens in an interview with iNews.
Robert Pires was an integral part of the Arsenal team that went throughout the 2003/04 Premier League season without a defeat.
According to him, he knew about the qualities of the French youngster during his time in France and he’s not surprised with his form for the Gunners since the start of the season.
Matteo Guendouzi, 19, became an Arsenal player in the summer after putting pen to paper on a long-term contract with the North Londoners.
The Gunners secured his transfer from French Ligue 2 side Lorient and they were said to have paid around £7m for him.
Guendouzi has impressed a great deal in the colours of the Gunners this season in his debut campaign for his new club.
He started the first five games in the Premier League for Arsenal alongside the experienced Granit Xhaka.
The young French midfielder featured prominently in the Arsenal side that went unbeaten for 22 games in all competitions this season.
The Gunners’ run ended on Sunday via a 3-2 defeat at Southampton in a Premier League clash.
