Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny could leave the club when the January transfer window reopens in few weeks time following the news that the Gunners are in the hunt for a German Bundesliga midfield star.
According to the publication from footballtransfertavern, Arsenal are one of the clubs keen on a move for highly-rated TSG Hoffenheim midfielder Nadiem Amiri.
His signing could pave the way for Mohamed Elneny to leave the Emirates Stadium.
The 26-year-old has been on the outskirts of the Arsenal first team in the debut season of Spanish tactician Unai Emery in English football.
Unai Emery became the Gunners’ boss in the summer after penning a three-year deal as a replacement for long-serving manager Arsene Wenger.
The former Valencia and Sevilla boss has played the Egyptian international star in cup competitions (Carabao Cup and Europa League) only.
Elneny signed for Arsenal from Swiss side FC Basel in January 2016.
Fellow Premier League side Leicester City are long-term admirers of the Egyptian midfielder and they could make a move for him once he is available.
For the aforementioned Amiri, Arsenal will have to see off North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to sign him.
Amiri is currently out with a foot problem.
