North London giants Arsenal have been told to pay the release clause in the contract of one of their numerous defensive targets.
The Gunners are in the running to sign a highly rated Real Betis defender Junior Firpo but they will have to pay the £45m release clause in his contract at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.
Arsenal are not the only clubs keen on a transfer for the Dominican defender.
Premier League rivals Manchester City and Crystal Palace also want to sign him though it remains to be seen if the Eagles have the finances to pull off a deal.
Spanish newspaper AS revealed that Real Betis will only sanction the transfer of the 22-year-old left-back if his release clause is met.
Junior Firpo has grown to become one of the best left-backs in the Spanish La Liga and his best game of the season came against champions Barcelona earlier in the season.
He was a key performer for the Europa League campaigners who stunned Barcelona 4-3 at the Nou Camp in their first Spanish La Liga game of the season.
Junior Firpo scored one of the goals for Real Betis.
He would be a very good addition to an Arsenal side that has struggled a great deal in the left-back department.
