Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has explained the reason behind the non-activity of summer signing Fred in his team in the past few weeks.

Brazilian midfielder Fred has failed to light up the Premier League since he signed for Manchester United in the summer.

Manchester United fans were excited with his signing but that excitement has turned into disappointment after few months into the season.

The three-time European champions splashed the sum of £52m on the 25-year-old to secure his transfer from Ukrainian club Shakthar Donetsk.

His Manchester United form has been in stark contrast to the form he showed for Shakthar Donetsk during his time in Ukraine.

Jose Mourinho talked about his signing during his pre-match press conference ahead of the weekend’s Premier League game against bottom side Fulham at Old Trafford.

According to the Portuguese tactician, Fred can’t play consistently for the club until his defence improves.

Fred has featured in just three games of the last 14 for Manchester United in all competitions.

The Brazilian has been able to play in just seven Premier League games for a struggling Manchester United team.

The Red Devils are languishing in eighth position on the Premier League table after a return of just 23 points from 15 games.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter is keen to work with Manchester United winger Daniel James again according to the latest transfer reports in the British media.

Graham Potter worked with Welsh international Daniel James at Swansea City before both parties left the English Championship side.

Daniel James played 33 league games in the English Championship under Graham Potter during the 2018/19 season and his performances for the Welsh team prompted the Red Devils to sign him last summer in an £18m deal.

Graham Potter was also appointed the Brighton & Hove Albion boss during the same summer.

Daniel James started his career at Manchester United well before it fizzled out towards the winter part of last season.

The Athletic claimed that Graham Potter and Brighton are plotting a loan move for the Red Devils winger.

The player has already lost his place in the starting XI at Manchester United and the arrival of another winger could push him further down the pecking order as far as the right wing position at Manchester United is concerned.

The Red Devils have been linked with wingers such as Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund, Ismaila Sarr of Watford and many more.

Leeds United are also interested in signing James on loan.

Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool have inserted a buyback clause of £40m into the contract of young striker Rhian Brewster who’s closing in on an exit from the club.

This was revealed by Liverpool correspondent IndyKaila.

According to him, Rhian Brewster is close to signing for Sheffield United in a £20m transfer.

The Blades have been in discussion with Liverpool over the England u-21 striker.

Sheffield United initially wanted a loan deal for the player but Liverpool were adamant that Rhian Brewster will only leave the club on a permanent deal.

Other Premier League sides like Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion are also keen to sign the 20-year-old who shone for Swansea City in the English Championship last term.

Rhian Brewster scored 10 goals in just 20 games for Swansea City while he was on loan for the second part of the last campaign.

Swansea City are also interested in re-signing him but the second tier club can’t compete with the Premier League teams for his signature.

Rhian Brewster is closing in on a transfer to Sheffield United at the moment as Blades boss Chris Wilder bolsters his squad upfront.

Sheffield United are still waiting for their first goal in the Premier League this season.

Man United were earlier reported to be ahead in the race to sign Argentina international wonderkid Alex Luna but they are set to be overtaken by Arsenal with interest already shown.

Alex Luna is the talk in town across Europe for many agents as he has been impressive with Rafaela, especially with his outing in the last season before it was ended by the Coronavirus Pandemic.

A report by AS which cited MilanLive, claims that the 16-year-old is attracting interest from the North London outfit while Man United and Man City are also making moves to land him.

Italian Serie A outfit AS Milan are also in the race for Alex Luna alongside Juventus but Man United and Arsenal have been favoured for the deal if he is to leave his current club in Argentina.

However, due to his age, Alex Luna will not be able to leave Argentina until he is 18 even if he agrees on a deal with any club now.

With every possibility that Alex Luna will be heading straight to the first team of the club he will eventually sign for, his suitors will not get him any cheap because of how highly valued he is.

Man United and Man City have been linked with the signature of Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly but it has been confirmed that they will no longer sign him this summer transfer window.

The two Manchester clubs have struggled this season with their defence as a major flaw. There have been efforts to bring in defenders but that has not had any breakthrough since the summer transfer window was opened.

Man City were reported to have agreed on personal terms with Kalidou Koulibaly and expected to conclude with Italian Serie A outfit Napoli for a deal but that never happened.

The Italian Serie A outfit’s Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has now come out to state that the player will be staying at the club this season.

The sporting director made it clear that some players will be leaving the team this summer window but Kalidou Koulibaly will not be part of them while stressing that they now have a complete team to challenge for titles this season.

However, all Kalidou Koulibaly’s suitors were discouraged by his valuation of £80 million which Napoli were not willing to negotiate. Most clubs, especially Man United could not meet with the fee which means the player will remain with the club for another season.

There are few days left to the end of this current transfer window but a lot is expected to happen at Man United, inclining the signing of new players and the sale of old ones.

The Red Devils have so far, had very slow transfer activity which have made it one to forget by the fans as they have only secured the signature of Donny van de Beek from Ajax despite being linked with a number of players.

While everyone waits for what happens before the end of the summer transfer window, Andreas Pereira has been tipped to leave the Old Trafford for the Italian Serie A outfit Lazio in the coming days.

It is reported that the 24-year-old will move out on a loan deal for the whole season but the seal will include an option to buy clause for a fee of £24-6 million.

The deal will also include a 10 percent sell-on fee when he becomes a Lazio player in the future, according to reports.

Andreas Pereira has not made the mark expected of him at the Old Trafford and that keeps him out of being favoured by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for selection.

He is expected to find his form and mojo when he leaves the Red Devils for another environment, with the hope that he can be handed regular playing time.

Both clubs have battled for a number of players this season with the North London club winning in most of the chase, including the capture of Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale who were also linked with a move to the Old Trafford.

It is understood that Arkadiusz Malik is confirmed to leave the Italian Serie A outfit before the summer transfer window ends as Man United and the North London club are in the race to secure his services.

Ansu Fati

Spanish La Liga outfit Barcelona are reported to have rejected an offer for their next rising star Ansu Fati from one of his suitors.

Ansu Fati is now the talk in the Catalan camp having impressed in the just-concluded season and has begun with his scoring in this new season, despite being 17-years-old.

Ansu Fati broke into Barcelona’s first team last season and scored eight goals in 33 appearances across all competition he participated in. He has been tipped to be the next big thing to happen to football for the next coming years.

Marca via Sports Mole, reports that the Spanish La Liga outfit rejected an offer of about £137 million for the young winger but failed to mention any name with Man United known as suitors.

It is obvious that Ansu Fati is a prized asset for the Spanish outfit and will not accept any offer for the player as he has been tipped to step into the shoes of Lionel Messi at the club.

English Premier League outfit Man United are reported to be considering a move for out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante after making an inquiry about his availability.

The 29-year-old World Cup winner has been linked away from the West London club as he can no longer boast of regular playing time under manager Frank Lampard.

It is claimed that the Blues are willing o let go of the former Leicester City man but will not let him leave for a cheaper price than £46 million as a lot has been invested in him.

The Blues are also keen on the signature of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and will want to offload the French midfielder to be able to bring in the Englishman.

However, Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now considering the option of adding to his book this season if an agreement would be reached with the West London club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants an extra muscle to his midfield that will help Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek and N’Golo Kante is being considered as an option.

The only uncertainty is the fact that the £46 million might be too high for the Red Devils to meet and that could force them to back out of the deal.
