Liverpool are ahead in the race for Brazilian outfit Flamengo player Lucas Paqueta as the winter transfer window fast approaches.
The Merseyside club are facing competition from the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain but reports according to Calciomercato claim they are in pole position to win the race for Lucas Paqueta.
There were earlier reports that the West London side were already in touch with the player and were preparing a bid ahead of the winter transfer window which reopens in coming weeks but they might have their bid rejected with Liverpool seeming to have completed talks with the Brazilian side in principle.
The young lad has got creative skills as a midfielder and that has helped him succeed in Brazil but he is seeking for other bigger challenge and has identified Europe as the destination for him.
So far this season, Lucas Paqueta has scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists in 28 games which make his £45 million release clause worth it.
However, the Reds will have to show enough seriousness in the bid for Lucas Paqueta and will meet the asking price or risk losing out on him.
The Reds are seeking to win a title this term to make it the first of its kind under manager Jurgen Klopp.
