Premier League giants Manchester United have renewed their interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel according to various media reports.
Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho is said to be a big fan of the 29-year-old.
The former Zenit St. Petersburg midfield general has been in impressive form for German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund since his move in the summer.
His performances have propelled Dortmund to the top of the German Bundesliga table with the Champions League campaigners presently nine points ahead of German champions and major title challengers Bayern Munich.
He joined Borussia Dortmund from Chinese top flight side Tianjin Quanjian during the summer’s transfer window.
German Bundesliga league leaders Dortmund were said to have paid €20m to secure his signature.
Manchester United were interested in a transfer for him but the move didn’t happen with the Red Devils opting to sign Brazilian international midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk FC of Ukraine.
Fred has failed to live up to expectations since his multi-million pounds transfer to Manchester United in the summer.
He started the season in the Manchester Manchester United XI but his unimpressive outings led to him being dropped from the first eleven.
Fred has not featured at all in the last three Manchester United games.
