Prove that Sarri isn’t title contender yet

It will be unacceptable to say that Sarri hasn’t brought a winning mentality to the Blues since his switch to Stamford from Napoli in July.

The manager hasn’t just been able to grind out important results when it matters most, he has equally been able to transform some players, whose career at the West London club looks to be ending, to regular starters.

After 12 round of unbeaten matches, many Chelsea fans are beginning to believe they are in contention for this season’s Premier League glory irrespective of City and Liverpool’s fine form.

After an 18-match unbeaten run in all competitions, Sarri’s men continue to grow in confidence and self-belief that they might be heading to another height by the end of this current campaign.

Sarri’s call to order

Having seen how much trust and expectations Stamford Bridge faithful have on his team, the Italian manager immediately comes out to advise his supporters not to expect too much from him.

According to him, his team is not at an equal level with Liverpool and Manchester City, hence, the fans shouldn’t think too much about the Premier League trophy or the Europa League.

Sarri is right anyway, no one should expect a manager who is in the League for the first time to defeat Pep Guardiola, Klopp and even Mourinho in the race for the title.

It took ‘almighty’ Pep Guardiola, who has managed Barcelona and Bayern Munich, two seasons before he makes his presence known in the League.

Klopp, despite his huge success at Borussia Dortmund, is yet to win a single silverware since he joined the Reds three seasons ago.

As much as Sarri is a highly experienced manager, it won’t be a surprise should he finish the season at the fourth position.

Despite his calls, Chelsea fans continue in their belief that their team are a true title contender.

They claimed that Sarri’s call is a mere mind game that managers often use to ease tension and pressures of their neck. Defeat to Tottenham, a confirmation of Sarri’s suggestion

Chelsea suffer their first Premier League defeat of the season at Wembley stadium last night as they were thrashed by Tottenham in a one-sided game.

Being defeated for the first time in 13 matches wasn’t a crime – indeed is an achievement, but the manner with which they lost suggest the Blues are nowhere closer to Manchester City and Liverpool.

The West London club were dominated by their London rivals from the start of the game to finish.

They were made chase after the ball for most of the game and they were deservedly beaten by three goals.

The defense line hasn’t been impressive since their game against Bournemouth some weeks ago but their blushes were saved by the strikers, who try hard to get the goals.

At midfield, once Jorginho is tamed, the whole midfield crumbles and struggles to get the ball through to the forward line.

Kante’s influence has drastically decreased as a result of his new role under Sarri.

The over-reliance on Eden Hazard — a player who isn’t known for high goalscoring record— for goals is Sarri’s greatest undoing.

Though the Blues are still in the race for the title, Chelsea fans must begin to lessen their expectations on the team as it might take Sarri another season to provide a title-winning team.
