Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly in talks to sign highly-rated Argentine international winger Cristian Pavon ahead of the upcoming mid-season transfer window scheduled to open as from the 1st of January.
According to various reports in the British media, the Gunners are ready to activate the release clause in his contract.
Cristian Pavon plays his club football for Argentine club Boca Juniors and he has a release clause of £44.5m in his contract with the club.
He was heavily linked with the Gunners in the summer after impressing at this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
Pavon was one of the standout players for an Argentina side that failed to light up the tournament in Russia.
The two-time world champions struggled to qualify from Group D of the tournament before securing first knockout stage qualification at the expense of Nigeria in their last group game.
Argentina went on to lose 4-3 to eventual winners France in the first knockout stage.
Pavon could finally get his dream move to the Premier League with Arsenal as the Gunners try to look for a replacement for the injured Danny Welbeck.
The 27-year-old is expected to be out of action for several months after he suffered a serious ankle injury earlier this month.
