Moroccan international centre-back Mehdi Benatia has been linked with a move to several clubs ahead of the January transfer window with Premier League giants Manchester United mooted as one of those interested sides.
Benatia, 31, plays his club football for Italian Serie A champions Juventus but his long-term future at the club is uncertain after getting frustrated with a lack of playing time at the club.
His lack of game time could be traced back to Juventus’ decision to bring Italian international defender Leonardo Bonucci back to the club in the summer.
Benatia was signed as his replacement when Bonucci left the Old Lady for rivals AC Milan only for him to return after just one season with the Rossoneri.
He has joined the Italian Serie A champions last summer when the club agreed to a fee of around £17m for his services.
Benatia was recently part of the Morocco squad that crashed out of this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia in the group stage.
He has been linked with several clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
European clubs like Arsenal and Manchester have been repeatedly linked to the player.
According to a poll conducted by footballfancast, 58% of Man United fans don’t want him at the club.
